10 COLORFUL TREATS YOU’LL WANT TO TRY

One of my favorite things to do while traveling is to find unique desserts. Not only does this satisfy my sweet tooth, but I also feel like I’m getting to try something I wouldn’t anywhere else in the world. Not to mention, these desserts are often pretty Instagram worthy! So, after a long search, here are ten colorful treats you’ll want to try as well as where you can buy them.

1. THE RAINBOW BAGEL

First, there was the “cronut”. Then there was the rainbow bagel. It’s easy to see why the rainbow bagel has created a splash. Not only is the actual bagel colorful and delicious, but the cream cheese is funfetti flavored. YES, you read that correctly: FUNFETTI FLAVORED. You can find the original rainbow bagel (plus delicious combinations of cream cheese) at The Bagel Store in Brooklyn, New York. Not located close to New York? No worries. You can also find rainbow bagels in cities like London (Brick Lane’s Beigel Shop) and Lake Forest, California (Bagels & Brew).

2. UNICORN MACARONS

These sleeping unicorn macarons from Mac Lab Bakery in Duluth, Georgia have effectively broken the internet since their release a few weeks ago. Instagrammers from all over the world are losing their minds over these insanely delicious fruity pebble flavored delights. We’re hoping that Mac Lab will start shipping these macarons soon, but for now, you’ll have to visit the store in Duluth to snag one of these treats.

3. FRUITY PEBBLES CHURROS

To get these candy-coated churros, you’ll have to visit the Ridges Churro Bar food truck. This food truck’s always rotating menu currently includes flavors like strawberry shortcake and salted caramel churros. Don’t sweat about missing out on the fruity pebble flavor, though; due to popular demand, you can always buy this colorful treat. Oh, and did I mention you can get your churro as a sundae too? To see where the Ridges Churro Bar food truck is currently located, check out their Facebook.

4. SUPER MILKSHAKES

As if milkshakes weren’t amazing on their own, restaurants all over the world are taking them to the next level with “super milkshakes”. At Halfsmoke in DC, you can get these babies in typical ice cream flavors (vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry) with an added oomph. For example, the strawberry shake comes with rainbow sprinkles, a sour power straw, and pixie six. We definitely want one…just don’t tell us how many calories are in them.

5. CUTE ANIMAL DONUTS

Fantastic Donuts in Los Angeles easily caught my eye on Instagram…these donuts are almost too cute to eat. ALMOST. These adorable treats sell out quickly, so I’d make sure to get to the store as soon as you can after it opens at 10 a.m. You can find items such as blue bears (blueberry flavor), orange sherbet kitties, and strawberry pigs with filling on the menu. 6. RAINBOW COFFEE

Who doesn’t love a good latte? And when we can get a rainbow-colored one, all the better. At Sambalatte in Los Vegas, a little food coloring and steamed milk goes a long way. What once began as a cheaper way to teach baristas latte art quickly turned into a sensation when customers noticed these colorful designs!

7. ANIMAL CREPES

Belly Good Café and Crepes in Japantown, San Francisco not only serves delicious crepes but also adds a little touch for their customers: servers create small animals out of the ice cream and topping. The detail in these pretty little creatures is more intense than you will find anywhere else in the world!

8. THE RAINBOW CONE

The Original Rainbow Cone in Chicago, Illinois, has been in business for 90 years, making us believe they’re doing something right. Their infamous rainbow cone brings in customers from all over the world to sample this mix of orange sherbet, pistachio, palmer house, chocolate, and strawberry ice cream. Side note: this ice cream shop is seasonal and tends to be open from March to November.

9. COTTON CANDY DONUTS

Bon Glaze in Atlanta, Georgia, features some extremely creative donut options on their menu. Nonetheless, for color lovers, I have to suggest the Cotton Candy donuts. This tasty creation is a yeast donut topped with raspberry glaze and a handful of cotton candy! Other items at this impressive shop include bacon butterscotch, blueberry cream, and Nutella with chocolate mousse donuts.
