The Best Things to Do in the Fall in Georgia

By: Leah Shoup

Visit a local pumpkin patch

Top-rated pumpkin patches in the state include Southern Belle Farm, Washington Farms, Burt's Pumpkin Farm, and the Kinsey Family Farm.

Travel to Helen

Helen Oktoberfest is one of the best fall activities in Georgia, featuring live music, dancing, German food, and a wide selection of American and German beers.

Get lost inside a corn maze

Our favorite is the Buford Corn Maze. Note that many of the family farms that house pumpkin patches in the autumn also have corn mazes!

Hike at a Georgia state park

Some of our favorite hiking trails in the fall in Georgia are Tennessee Rock Trail at Black Rock Mountain State Park and Amicalola Falls.

Go apple picking

All the apple orchards in the state are located in the North Georgia mountains. For example, R&A Orchards, B.J. Reece Orchards, and Mercier Orchards.

Ride on the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway

The Blue Ridge Scenic Railway is a heritage railroad that takes passengers through the Blue Ridge Mountains to McCaysville, Georgia.

Attend a fall festival or fair

The Georgia Apple Festival, the Gold Rush Days Festival, the Cumming Country Fair & Festival, and the North Georgia State Fair are great options.

Celebrate Halloween at a haunted house

Netherworld Haunted House is one of the most popular haunted houses in Georgia, which has been operating during the fall season each year since 1997.
