HOTEL FELIX: HAPPY NATURALLY IN CHICAGO

For my first time in Chicago, I knew I wanted to make my experience in “the windy city” unforgettable. I also set my sights on finding the perfect place to stay: a hotel in a good Chicago neighborhood close to the best things to do in Chicago. So, I’m happy to say that Hotel Felix met and surpassed my expectations tenfold. When browsing hotels, Hotel Felix caught my eye as the first eco-friendly hotel in the city with silver LEED certification. I always like to stay in comfort, but when my stay can have an eco-friendly impact as well, all the better. Hotel Felix prides itself on making its guests “happy naturally”. But what exactly does this mean? Some of my favorite features about the hotel include:

  • Beautiful artwork outside of the building made from reclaimed materials
  • Low energy-use lighting
  • Carpet made of recycled material
  • Use of free trade coffee and chocolates
  • Recycling program in use

While these are only a few of the hotel’s sustainable features, you can see a full list here.

Hotel Felix‘s location couldn’t have been more perfect for a first timer in Chicago. Located on Huron Street in River North, guests are only an 8-minute walk from the Magnificent Mile. Other close attractions include 360 Chicago observation deck (14-min walk), the Chicago Riverwalk (18 min), and the bean (27 min).

During my stay at Hotel Felix, I was lucky enough to stay on the 12th floor. This top floor offered an enticing view of Chicago, helping me to start my morning with quite the sight. We stayed in a King Room that was super comfortable and spacious for two people. I was also excited to see that the hotel uses L’Occitane bathroom amenities!

Furthermore, it’s located next to endless dining options. For example, Troquet (a French bar) and Big Shoulder Coffee are literally within two steps of the building. One perk for guests of Hotel Felix is free coffee or tea from Big Shoulder Coffee (can I get a woot woot?!). Additionally, if you’re hungry in the evening, the lobby turns into Taketei Sushi bar!

If you’re looking to take your relaxation to another level during your stay, make sure to check out the on-site spa. Moreover, the Hotel Felix also offers other amenities, including the fitness center, business center, and the lobby lounge.

If it’s your first time, or even if you’re a repeat visitor to Chicago, I highly recommend staying at the Hotel Felix.

Hotel Felix looks like the perfect place to stay whilst visiting Chicago. I like how green the hotel is, more hotels need to follow their examples. The room looks stunning as are the views from the 12th floor.

wonderful property. Like the decor inside the rooms. Chicago is surely an iconic city that I need to visit one day and it does seem to have hotels that live up to the status of the city.

I really love Chicago and am a big proponent of supporting those who are interested in sustainable energy. I like that it isn't imposing like most hotels are with their grandiose lobbies, this one looks inviting and homey. I need to get back there to visit the museums, so if/when I do I will definitely stay here.

Such great info!! I haven't been to Chicago yet but when I do I will definitely check this place out. I love that it is so close to the observation deck and the bean. Seems like a great location. And the lobby turns in a sushi bar? Whaaat? Sold. Looks super comfy too. Thanks for sharing!
